File Formats

Our printables are provided in several different formats. The table below gives a brief overview of each of these.

JPG
  • Microsoft Word

An image file format. You will need a program like Microsoft Word or Photoshop to add text to the image.
PDF
  • Adobe Reader
  • Do not use Preview on a Mac. It can cause problems with editable form fields, the display of fonts, printing, etc.

A file format for easily sharing print-ready documents that contain text and images. Some of our PDF files (e.g., award certificates and recipe cards) include editable fields that allow you to add your own text.

Note that we recommend not using any PDF software other than Adobe Reader.

  • Microsoft Word

An image format with a transparent background. Adding text to PNG files requires software like Microsoft Word, Photoshop, or other image editors.
Note that not all printables are offered in all formats. Each type of printable uses the most suitable file format(s) for that type. Check the download page for a printable for details on which file formats are available. Additionally, we are unable to provide printables in a different format than what is already offered.
